Jörg Guido Hülsmann (born May 18, 1966) is a German economist of the Austrian School, following the tradition of Ludwig von Mises, and an anarcho-capitalist in the tradition of Murray Rothbard. He is currently a professor of economics at the University of Angers in France and is a senior faculty member of the Ludwig von Mises Institute.
Hülsmann has written scholarly articles in German, English, and French, and has also translated several English-language economics books into his native tongue, German.
Hülsmann has written primarily on monetary theory and monetary reform issues, advocating a non-inflationary gold standard as the only way to control cyclical inflation caused by excessive bank credit creation. He is one of the few economists to have written about the complex inter-relationship between money production and ethics.[1][2][3][4][5]
He also wrote a detailed, comprehensive biography of Ludwig von Mises entitled The Last Knight of Liberalism.[6]
